THE DOORS LA WOMAN 1971 FIRST PRESS SANTA MARIA SHRINK.  THIS RECORD IS GETTING MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION.                                                                                                                                                                                             I NEED TO MAKE A NOTE HERE. THE SHRINK HAS SOME LOOSE AREAS. NOTHING IS MISSING AND IT'S NOT THAT BAD BUT THESE AREAS ARE VERY FRAGILE AND ANYONE WHO TAKES OFF THE PLASTIC COVER NEXT TO THE SHRINK COVER SHOULD BE EXTREAMLY CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING IT. I HAVE "DOUBLE WRAPPED" THIS RECORD FOR EXTRA PROTECTION. THIS IS THE WAY I HAVE SHIPPED IT. YOU CAN LEAVE THE RECORD AND THE INNER SLEEVE IN THE SECOND PLASTIC COVER WITHOUT DISTURBING THE SHRINK WRAP. PERSONALLY, I WOULD LEAVE THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE SHRINK WRAP OR FRAME THE COVER FOR MAXIUM PROTECTION. THE REASON I AM WRITING THIS IS BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT CAREFUL. I WANT TO AVOID THIS.THERE ARE FRAMES THAT BOTH THE COVER AND RECORD CAN BE PLACED IN THE SAME FRAME.   KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU FURTHER DAMAGE OR RIP THE SHRINK BY HANDLING I WILL NOT ACCEPT A RETURN. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. A FIRST 1971 SANTA MARIA PRESSING. 55 YEARS OLD TIME CAPSULE 

IT HAS THE ORIGINAL UNEDITED CUT OUT COVER AND YELLOW CRUCIFIX SLEEVE.

RECORD: LOOKS RARELY PLAYED! I WOULD RATE THIS CLOSE TO NEAR MINT. LABELS NM ALSO.

 COVER: EXCELLENT! SHRINK HAS A FEW TEARS AND STORAGE WEAR (NOTHING MISSING) BUT STILL IN VERY GOOD PLUS CONDITION!  

NO WRITING, SPLITS, HOLES, SAW MARKS, STAINS ETC

INNER SLEEVE: ORIGINAL YELLOW INNER SLEEVE. NOT ONE SPLIT! THE ONLY INNER SLEEVE I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS WITH NO SPLITS.

I HAVE A LOWER PRICE ON THIS RECORD BECAUSE OF THE "LOOSE" SHRINK AND THE STORAGE WEAR ON THE SHRINK. PLEASE ASK ADDITIONAL PICTURES.

The record album described as having the "original unedited cut out cover and yellow crucifix sleeve" is The Doors' album L.A. Woman.  This specific packaging refers to the original 1971 LP release, which included the following distinctive features:
  • "Cut out cover": The cover had a die-cut window where the band members' photo was visible through clear cellophane.
  • "Original unedited": The cellophane on some early pressings was clear, revealing an uncensored photo of the band. Later pressings often had the crucifix (which was on an inner sleeve) over Jim Morrison's crotch area, sometimes described as a "censored" or edited cover.
  • "Yellow crucifix sleeve": The inner sleeve featured a yellow-tinted photo of a crucifix and the band members' faces in a cross shape. 
These features are sought after by collectors, and the "unedited" clear cover version is particularly rare.

2-color burgundy & black varnish-print sleeve, with radius corners and embossed "Doors" text . The front has a cut-out window with clear acetate, on which the band photo is printed black half-tone. The disc is contained in a yellow radius corner liner, which provides a yellow background to the cover image when inserted into the sleeve. The back of the liner has a black-print 'crucifix' image.

1. This issue has the 'Columbus Circle' address on sleeve back and labels.
2. This issue does not have the Warner Bros 'W' imprint on the 'butterfly' labels.
3. This issue is a the Santa Maria pressing. 'Terre Haute' pressing found here: L.A. Woman
4. Shrink-wrap of the issue may have an over-sticker "Includes the hit single Love Her Madly".
