THE DOORS : LIVE AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL
Recorded live in L.A. July 5th. 1968
LP grades NEAR MINT ~ Elektra/Asylum Records 60741-1 ~ WHITE LABEL PROMO ~ First Issue 1987
There are two stickers attached to front cover : a rectangular red info sticker that tells about : "...Previously unreleased live performances" and an oval b&w promo sticker that says : "Pressed on High Quality Audiophile Vinyl" ~ Promo information is stamped in gold on back cover including a special number : "S 197339" (near the top, hard to see in the scan) ~ Small notch cut near the top of the spine ~ Bottom left corner is slightly crunched & cover is slightly creased
Overall the cover grades Excellent to Near Mint minus ~ The 2-sided, fold out insert (basically an ad) features color photos of vintage Doors' concert posters. It comes in a special envelope (see scan.) ~ LP comes with its original Elektra inner sleeve
Record grades NEAR MINT and appears to be unplayed. The beautiful, amber audiophile vinyl is translucent & looks stunning under a bright light.
The white Elektra promo labels are extremely sharp with no spindle marks, writing etc.

"LIVE AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL was a 19-minute EP released to coincide with the home video release of that July 1968 concert (MCA VHS 80592; it is currently available as part of the Doors Collection DVD). The EP contains a few highlights from that show, including good performances of "Light My Fire" and "Unknown Soldier" along with theatrical Morrison psych-outs [from "Celebration of the Lizard"]. The sound quality is excellent, making the EP a good souvenir of a legendary band in mid-career."

The extremely sharp labels on this copy would suggest that the record was seldom, if ever played. This is a beautiful promo issue on this brief but tasty EP. Share a Bowl !!
