Description

THE DOORS "Morrison Hotel" orig Canadian gold label M-

1970/Cdn/Elektra EKS 75007…..here’s a gorgeous original Canadian pressing with the deep groove Gold Elektra label. The thick gatefold cover is in strong VG++ condition, it looks near new but when the lp was purchased the new owner rubbed a small white spot and signed his name and date 27/3/70 on the back near the bottom(see picture), the top seam on the outer gatefold is lightly crushed and shows light spotty wear in the center, only the slightest of shelf wear, clean and solid with no splits, delete, writing or other issues! The vinyl is in strong Excellent to M- condition. The vinyl looks as new with the exception of a couple of short inaudible hairlines. The record plays clean and brilliant with only very minor noise between some tracks. The labels are clean and show no spindle marks. This copy would make a great addition to any collection and a keeper all the way! Please check my auctions for other rock and psych lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

Morrison Hotel was, upon its release, seen by many as a comeback for the Doors following the critical failure of The Soft Parade and the Miami incident of 1969. Dave Marsh, the editor of Creem magazine, said of the album that it was: "the most horrifying rock and roll I have ever heard. When they're good, they're simply unbeatable. I know this is the best record I've listened to ... so far", while Rock Magazine called it "without any doubt their ballsiest (and best) album to date". Circus Magazine praised it as "possibly the best album yet from the Doors" and "Good hard, evil rock, and one of the best albums released this decade". The cover photo was taken at the actual Morrison Hotel located at 1246 South Hope Street in Los Angeles. The band asked the owners if they could photograph the hotel and they declined, so the band went inside when nobody was looking and took the photograph.

///GRADING///

MINT: as stated with no defects

M- OR NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
