Description
The Doors self titled 1967 UK original on the Elektra label, catalogue number EKL 4007 (mono)
The numbers and letters stamped on the album are:- Side One: EKL-4007A (COL) - this is all hand printed Side Two: EKL-4007B (COL) - this is all hand printed There is also a 'B' stamped on Side One and a 'C' stamped on Side Two and some tiny initials - I can't read them.
This is heavy vinyl and it is not warped. There are plenty of light surface scratches and quite a lot that are more noticeable on both sides. Side One plays very clearly, great sound, but there is light crackle wherever it can be heard between tracks and where the music is quiet. Side Two is very similar apart from the last track 'The End' which is also a bit clicky now and again all the way through - it's a little bit irritating but plays through perfectly well and there are certainly no sticks, no skips, no jumps. Overall the audio is very clear and of a good standard, just a little bit testing at the end of Side Two.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have a textured finish, they have quite a lot of spindle lines, but no writing, no damage.
The cover is coated all over (front and back) by a clear laminate which is in very good condition. It has seven creases on the front on the edge where the record goes in and about ten on the back, but they don't break the laminate. It also has some very short creases around the other edges, but overall it's a nice and smooth shiny finish. There is a small crush bump to the top left corner and an even smaller one on the bottom right corner.
The spine is fairly good, just the crush bump on the top corner, a small scuff which removes 'The' from 'The DOORS', everything else can be read clearly it's just a bit flattened.
The inner sleeve is the original and it's very clean and tidy, just a few small tears but no edge splits, it has 'patent applied for' and 'made in England' printed on it, it is not lined. I have checked the Record Collectors grading system and I would say, the cover is 'very good' and the record is 'good'.
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
