ITEM:    RARE  4-Track Stereo Tape Cartridge,  similar in size and function to an 8-Track Tape Cartridge.  NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REEL TO REEL OR AN 8-TRACK TAPE. IT CAN ONLY BE PLAYED ON A 4-TRACK TAPE CARTRIDGE MACHINE. IT CAN NOT BE PLAYED ON AN 8-TRACK PLAYER!!  "The Soft Parade" by The Doors. First Release, produced by Elektra/Ampex, catalpg number Elektra X-45005. This is NOT the later release produced by Muntz Stereo-Pak.  

 COMMENTS/CONDITION:   I recently came across two large boxes of both 4 and 8 track cartridges which I have had for years. These tapes have not been played in many years. They have been kept in my air-conditioned home, away from direct sun light. I no longer have a 4-track player, so I am unable to test play them, so they are being sold in strictly "As-Is" Condition, and all sales are final (no returns). I have closely examined the tapes to be sure the tape is not broken, and that the pressure pads are still present.

Please Note:  Although the exterior of the tape cartridge and the visible portion of the tape appear to be in very good condition, the tape is still quite old and I am unable to test it. Therefore, I do not guarantee it to be in playing condition. If any maintenance work is needed ( such as replacement of foil sensor strips, pressure pads, etc. ), this will be the responsibility of the buyer.

The plastic case is in excellent condition, nice and shiny, with no cracks, deep scratches, chips, or cut-out holes. There are light scuffs on the top and back of the case from sliding in and out of the player.

The label is in excellent condition with nice crisp colors and sharp graphics. There are no rips, tears, or writing. There are several small areas of bubbling between the label and case.

The original studio cardboard slip-case is in very good condition. There are no rips, stickers, price tags, tape, or crushed corners. There is superficial edge and corner wear, and a light crease line on one edge.

Please see the attached high resolution photos to help you determine the condition of the tape and slip-case.

Do not sleep on this one. I researched eBay for the past several years and I did not find another Original 4-Track Elektra  "The Soft Parade" tape that was listed on eBay. It may be a long time (if ever), before another one becomes available!
