Jac Holzman (the founder of Elektra Records) and Bruce Botnick (the original Doors producer) have been hard at work in the studio. With the assistance of Mastering Engineer Bernie Grundman (who actually mastered the original albums and still has all of his original mastering notes!), they have transferred the original analog master tapes through Grundman’s all-tube console and all-tube cutting lathe. All the parties concerned with this project (and they are all taking it very seriously!) feel that this approach has allowed them to get the very best sound transferred to the lacquers.
