Description
The Fantastic Puzzles come back with their UK Shotgun reissue of "Come Back (Part 1) / Come Back (Part 2)" on black 7" vinyl in January 2022. This single, produced by A and B-P. Patrick Adams, Gregory Carmichael, and Denise Harris, features a mix of 1970s Northern Soul tracks on each side, with a near mint minus veering to mint record and sleeve grading. The vinyl records are in English language and boast a run time of 2:52 on side A and 2:40 on side B, making them a must-have for collectors and fans of the era.
The Fantastic Puzzles were a male group from Brooklyn, New York. What will surprise many this production was tailor-made for the Northern Soul scene from the owner of Right On records in the UK, none other than David Godin who contacted his partner the Manager of the AD LIBS in the US Bill Downs as to creating an up-lifting dance track. They enlisted Gregory Carmichael to create a sound, Patrick Adams had earlier worked with Ian Levine on The Exciters project so was familiar with the sound needed.
The lead vocalist has never been confirmed, although Sheldon Turner sang on a demo of the track. Sam Cullen was involved who had been with The Diplomats and The Skull Snaps who had Tom Price and Ervan Waters having listened to their work none of them sound like the lead but could possibly be part of the background vocalists, the production and delivery is simply awesome. Gregory released the track in the US on NEW MOON Records that did nothing in the US but became a monster track in the UK, when released on RIGHT ON Records a year later, 1976!!
