THE FAR CRY s/t Rare USA Jazzy Psych Rock Fuzz lp!

1968/Canada/Vanguard Apostolic Records VSD-6510….. here’s a clean original  pressing of this rare trippy Psych lp. Imagine a jazz rock band playing with a full blown fuzz psych band with some free form sax. Really a great lp from start to finish and just gobs of fantastic guitar all over. The cover is in clean strong VG++ condition with slight shelf wear/soiling, light stain on back at bottom, light corner wear, otherwise the cover is solid and clean with no delete, splits or writing. The vinyl is in clean strong VG++ condition with one very light inaudible hairline scuff across side one and some minor light storage staining and that's it. The record plays excellent with a bit of minor light crackle mainly between tracks and the odd stray pop/tick. The record has only had maybe a handful of plays if that and plays with clean crisp fidelity! There is one light spindle mark on side two label, otherwise the "deep groove" labels are clean. A very  nice copy of this rare lp! Please check my auctions for other psych, prog, and rock lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

Signed by the short-lived New York-based Vanguard Apostolic Records, the band's self-titled debut teamed them with producer Daniel Weiss. Imagine Captain Beefheart and Quicksilver Messenger Service's John Cipollina with some horns... Largely original (the lone exception being a cover of Riley King's 'Sweet Little Angel'), the album featured a strange blend of jazz, fusion and psychedelic rock moves. While it may not have sounded particularly promising, the combination of styles was actually intriguing. Whiting's bizarre and wild voice (on tracks such as 'Shapes' and 'Hellhound' it sounded as if he were about to suffer a terminal stoke), Martin's free form sax (sometime it sounded as if he were reading the charts for a different song) and Lenart's fluid guitar (check out the introduction to 'Earthlight') made for an album we play on a regular basis.

GRADING

MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.

NM OR M- or Mint Minus is the same to me, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
