Description
This wonderful record, too little known, is an exemplar of a kind of rock music I don't know a name for. Early David Byrne might be the genre, but that doesn't capture the mesmerizing guitar sound, a kind of trance halo of minimalist nervousness, coupled with cool weird mumbled lyrics, not psycho killer so much as psycho nice kid next door. You can hear Velvet Underground here but put to very different uses.
This is one of those very influental albums that didn't sell many copies but led to new bands and new sounds. I'm doing it an injustice by being a bit tonguetied at the moment but if you just listen to it on streaming you may have many better descriptors than I do.
As I say, it didn't really sell and so there just aren't that many copies of the original Stiff USA LP out there...there are some! This copy has the slightest surface sounds sometimes at the silent grooves; I didn't hear any during the music. Original custom inner sleeve and red labels.
