THE FOX. Mr Carpenter. Rare demo, played once, with original press release
Here is an A-label demo copy of the super-rare psych single by The Fox, Mr Carpenter c/w Seek And You Find. It has been played once (see below), is still in the original CBS range-bag and is being sold together with an original copy of the CBS Records press release.
NOTE – at some point in the past 46 years, the disc has gained a very slight hairline crack. It extends from the outer grooves 2cm into the record and is barely visible to the naked eye. (It has only been discovered by studying the vinyl under artificial light.)
The record has been played once only since being pressed in 1968, just now, so I could check if the crack is audible. I cannot hear it at all on the A-side; it is very slightly evident on the B-side before the stylus gets beyond it. Really, though, you cannot hear it through the music and you wouldn’t know it was there visibly either.
The Carpenter was written by Nicky James with ex-Traffic man Dave Mason playing sitar. Also featuring Winston Gawke, Anthony ‘Top’ Topham (ex-Yardbirds), Tony McIntyre and drummer Chris Jones (ex-Steve Marriott band).
The labels are mint, but note that the A-side has been date-stamped 5 April 1968 by the CBS press office. The press release has been folded once and once again.
Will post worldwide, signed-for.
