Description

You are looking at a rare, UK produced copy of 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' which was issued with a plain-backed cover for use by the CBS sales teams and which they took to record stores in early 1963.  My elder sister was going out with one of these chaps and I was given this copy to keep me quiet.  I believe that it was a free sample that was left with the better customers for them to play as background music in their store.

I'm no expert in these matters but here are a few facts on this item:

  • The sleeve has the standard photograph on its front side - but nothing on the reverse, it is completely plain;
  • The records' label is smooth - it is not one of the textured labels that also exist;
  • The label shows a plain 33 as the speed;
  • The matrix's show (on side 1) 62193-3A-1 and (on side 2) 62193-1B-1;
  • Other numbers shown on the out run are, (on side 1) B1C and, (on side 2) BC;
  • Record number is shown as BPG 62193 (CL1986).
I would describe the condition as 'fair to good'.  It has clearly been well-loved and appreciated but it is flat and played well the last time I used it.  The inner sleeve is plain white and a bit tatty but it does its job of protecting the record.  The outer sleeve is not damaged but, as you will see from the photographs, it does have some light marking thereon as well as a sticker showing the number 12 - presumably a stock number from the salesman!
I hope the photographs will answer any questions you may have but, if not, please drop me a note.
Thanks for looking!
