THE FUGS "THE FUGS FIRST ALBUM" RELEASED IN 1965 ON ESP - DISK IN ITS ORIGINAL FACTORY SEALED PACKAGE. FROM THE BEAT GENERATION TO PSYCHEDELIC/GARAGE FOLK!!! This has been shelved and carefully boxed upright for more than fifty-years! This is one of maybe a dozen ESP albums sent to the underground FM station I was programming in the late 60's/early 70's. We just never opened them to play! So, they joined my personal collection!
The Fugs were founded by beat poet, Tuli Kupferberg, principle writer, and singer/writer, Ed Sanders. With the addition of Pete Stampfel on guitar and fiddle, and Steve Weber on guitar, known to some aficionados, as the founders of the Holy Modal Rounders, another wild and crazy group of country-folk psychedelic hipsters! (The originators of country-punk?) Arguably, some consider The Fugs to be the first underground band to breakthrough!
However you look at it, this LP represents a REAL piece of music history! And it is a completely pristine package - inside and out! There are NO seam splits, NO creases, NO discoloring, NOTHING but a brand new out-of-the box disk that was given to me 57 years ago!
