Description
THE GOSPEL SOUL REVIVALS Come Together Children SONIC RECORDS 101083 LP
- Funk/Soul/Gospel from this Chicago, IL group.
- Willie Pryor from the group is also the song "arrnger" and booking manager!
- O.L. Brown, from the group, is one of the songwriter and "secty"!
- Recently discovered by the Numero Group!
- Organized around Jesse Carter and brothers Harry and Willie Pryor in Aurora, Illinois, the Gospel Soul Revivals emerged from the ashes of the Mighty Crusaders in 1979. Swelling to eight pieces by 1983, the group entered Ed Cody’s Odyssey Studio and tracked out Come Together Children, their only album, in three hours. Opening side two was the hard-grooved “If Jesus Came Today,” improvised on the spot by bassist Kenny Tucker, guitarist Gerry Clark, and drummer Preston Moore, with O. L. Brown shouting out the title and group name while Harry, Willie, and Jesse testified at random. Issued on Sonic, Cody’s budget custom enterprise, Come Together Children spent the bulk of its existence in Willie Pryor’s basement before its 2006 discovery by Numero.
