Barcode 0 81227 95397 3 / 081227953973 Includes the single "Uncle John's Band" which was the band's first single to chart in the 5 years they'd been together. The album also includes the Free Form FM (and subsequently Dead standard) "Casey Jones" ("Ridin' that train/high on cocaine").
In 2003, the album was named number 262 on Rolling Stone magazine's "500 greatest albums of all time" list.

Cumberland Blues features guest David Nelson on acoustic guitar. Nelson was in Dead associated band The New Riders Of The Purple Sage (Garcia, Phil Lesh and Robert Hunter all did time as members of NRPS) and went on to join the later Flying Burrito Brothers.
Barnes and Noble exclusive reissue with Olive Green WB Labels and Upside Down Rear Cover (as it was originally released), pressed on brown and gold swirled vinyl.
Recorded at Pacific High Recording Studio, San Francisco. Engineered by Alembic.
