THE GROWING CONCERN s/t TOP! 1969 original Acid Psych Femme vocals M-
1969/USA/Mainstream Records S/6108….. here’s a clean original pressing of this rare Psych lp. The cover is in solid condition with ring wear top and bottom mainly, corner bumps/wear, 2" top seam split at opening, , 1" bottom seam split at opening, 1" of paper worn off bottom seam at left side, lower seam wear, soiling/wear on white back, promo stamp on the back, otherwise the cover is nice and has no delete! The vinyl is in strong Excellent closer to M- like new condition. The record has some minor light storage stains/blemishes and looks Unplayed! Clean labels have no spindle marks. A great copy of this rare lp! Please check my auctions for other rock and psych lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!
This self-titled album by The Growing Concern curiously first saw the light of day in 1969 on Bob Shad's Mainstream label, an imprint more familiar to jazz and blues fans than devotees of psych/pop. Perhaps Shad thought he was going to repeat his commercial triumph with The Growing Concern.
However, the band was a different proposition altogether with its emphasis on beautiful vocal harmonies and fantastic guitar and organ work rather than the Joplin-dominated R'n'B of Big Brother, and consequently Shad only allowed the group into the studio on a single occasion, dropping them from the label after this, their eponymous debut. The album, which is brilliantly recorded, is of a consistently high musical quality and the band surely deserved a better fate than the obscurity that Shad's indifference consigned them to."
GRADING
MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.
M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.
EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.
VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
