Description
1969 CBS 63683 with the cat. number machine etched into the run-offs followed with A1 and B1 stampers denoting a first (and only?) pressing.
The outer sleeve / cover has a laminated front with a matt but smooth rear. The lamination extends around the spine so has protected it. Overall the sleeve is in strong and clean shape with square corners and no writing or price sticker tears. The bottom right corner shows a crease and on the rear mouth is a small nick in the card. Hardly worth mentioning but so long as you know. Condition rating for the sleeve has to be a confident 8 out of 10.
Both orange labels are clean as shown. The texture of the paper is matt but smooth so seems to me to be a transition between the earlier CBS rough matt finishes and the later shiny jobs. The spindle holes show evidence of a handful of plays.
The disc is of a least a medium weight, flat and shiny. Under a bright light it shows some scuffs and light hairlines. I rarely play test vinyl due to lack of time but I did in this instance just to make sure all is well. Nothing adverse to report so I rate the record 7 / 10 visually.
The inner sleeve is a polythene lined job (the best) and has a date of 2-68 so must have been pulled from stock for this issue. Is in good but used shape and shows age browning as to be expected. I guess it's the the original owner who has written the name of the band and album title on the front along with the track times on the rear.
