MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original Odeon Records very first High Fidelity Mono press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1970 by Industrias Eléctricas y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), licensed from The Gramophone Co. Ltd., UK, through Columbia Records, Germany (uncredited), catalog number MSOD 8818, with hand etched matrix numbers 7XCE-21355 1 in Side A and 7XCE-21356 1 in Side B, with white/red EMI Odeon Records labels and 4-prong push-out center. It’s interesting to notice the 1/1 stampers!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND FROM CHILE!!!

“He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother” was originally released in September 1970 in UK and USA, and in January 1970 this single was released here in Chile. Song titles are written in Spanish only, with additional credits for Johnny Scott as orchestra arranger and conductor and additional information about production of each song. Here in Chile the song title “He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother” isn’t translated complete (El No Es Pesado, El Es Mi Hermano), as you can see the song title was shortened “Es Mi Hermano” and it also has an error, the name of the producer Ron Richards is misspelled in Side B “DON Richards” So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS of this single by The Hollies, with Spanish-written song titles, WHITE/RED ODEON RECORDS LABELS, 1/1 stampers and UNIQUE ERROR, a record not many times seen and A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of The Hollies or even Elton John (as you must know, Elton John plays piano in “He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother”) and British Invasion music!!!

This record doesn’t come with a cover. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, hairlines and light scratches, with a slight warp, which don’t affect play at all, with the push-out center intact. Labels are in EX- or EX condition both sides, with minimal spindle hole wear and faint age browning. The sound is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with background noise (background noise was normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and occasional clicks here and there, the background noise is like a constant hiss, maybe with a deep ultrasonic cleaning the hiss could disappear, and in VG or VG+ condition the Side B, almost same condition as Side A but quieter, which don’t cause major distraction from the still loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, with Side A closer to VG- and Side B closer to VG+. Overall, sure this record could not to be for Minty minds or audiophiles, but it still keeps a very nice look, almost immaculate labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after 48 years, which won’t disappoint everyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the level of rarity of this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS of this so classic rock single!!! Yes Sirs, WHAT A FIND AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels in detail. WOW!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

SHIPPING (Packing and Postage)

We have an unique value worldwide:

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP10 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for.
