MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Odeon Records very first Mono press released, made and distributed in Perú by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Peruanas S.A. (IEMPSA) in 1972, licensed from EMI Records, England, catalog number 11634, with machine etched matrix numbers 7YCE 21625 in Side A and 7YCE 216256 in Side B, with traditional yellow/red/black Odeon Records labels of the period and large center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from South America for all fans, lovers and collectors of The Hollies!!!

“Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress” with “Cable Car” as Side B was originally released in UK in April 1972, even though the single, both UK and Peruvian pressings, inform “1971”. The year informed is 1971 because the song appeared in the 1971 album “Distant Light”, but the single was released in April 1972. So far I know two Peruvians pressings exist, very easy to identify, because in the very first press the song title “Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress” is written in 2 lines adjusted at left side with Word “Negro” (Black) in second line and in second pressings those 2 lines are centered, with words “De Negro” in second line. Song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters, orchestra conduction and arrangements, and additional information about licenses, original UK matrix numbers, kind of style of music and play time of each song. It’s interesting to notice that matrix number etched in Side B was wrong, “7YCE 21625”, they copied the matrix number of Side A and then they overetched the number “6” on “5”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE ORIGINAL VERY FIRST PERUVIAN PRESS of “Long Cool Woman In Black Dress” by The Hollies and with UNIQUE MATRIX ERROR!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, it has lost its shine but it’s clean, with many scuffs, hairlines and some light scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in nice VG- or VG condition the Side A, clear and mostly clean, with evident spindle hole wear, writings, tears and faint discoloration, but fully readable, and in VG or VG+ condition the Side B, absolutely free of marks of any kind, with some spindle hole wear, tears and faint discoloration. The sound is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and regular light clicks, more evident in the last seconds of Side B, which don’t really cause major distraction from the still loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE ORIGINAL PERUVIAN VERY FIRST PRESS, sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure it keeps a nice glossy look, fully readable labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 47 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And don’t forget this is the very first press of “Long Cool Woman In Black Dress” released in Peru, with UNIQUE MATRIX ERROR!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
