Hi, I started collecting vinyl Lp's and 45's in 1971, I have 20,000 + which I have moved now 4 times, and about to move again next year. So it's time to let at least half go. Most are in at least Excellent condition.  I can't listen to them all, so most will only have visual grading, any with a high start price, I will listen too, and play grade.

ALBUM INFO:

This is the ORIGINAL UK FIRST PRESS "MONO" IDLE RACE:- THE BIRTHDAY PARTY.... An overlooked PSYCHEDELIC CLASSIC!! This quasi-concept album was the first to be composed almost entirely of songs by a young Birmingham guitarist/singer named JEFF LYNNE A psychedelic/rock album from 1968. Believe it or not, the Lp was released in a gatefold, the first of it's kind since Sgt Pepper, it failed to make any impact on the UK chart, which makes this a very rare album indeed. In 1960's most people owned Dansette's or the old fashion type of Radio Grams, I don't need to tell you how many Lp's got scratched and ruined by heavy weighted arms and metal needles.  This is the 1st UK press... So hard to find in any playable condition, as they have been squirreled away in collections or worse thrown away. This was originally my Dad's and passed down ( actually more like acquired! ) Their 1st Studio Lp and was mostly bought and played by young people and nearly all copies that turn up, have terribly worn covers as this one's has a totally unlaminated jacket. Lots were damaged mostly with the owners name written on them. I believe that there are very few of these albums left now. Pressed in MONO it was lucky to survive, as most people didn't have great equipment, and now hardly ever turns up in this condition , or any reasonable condition! The album was released in 1968.... A collectors dream. The cover is in Very Good+ condition, the sleeve is unlaminated and so Rare and hard to find undamaged.   

Well as you can see from the photographs this is a exceptional copy of a classic British psychedelic/rock album from 1968. Their 1st album, which hasn't a flaw, very much like all their early albums. A great early concept album in the beat in hard to find condition! on the Liberty Record Label. The sound is STILL GREAT WITH NO DISTORTION OR JUMPS! here and there a little background crackle but still a truly wonderful listen. Even the original inner sleeve is unsplit and has just a few creases is in EXCELLENT+ Condition!  

The album is a masterpiece!!!  My record has no distortiond sounds clear and loud, STUNNING PLAYBACK an overall enjoyable listen!  The sleeve is unlaminated without any Major creasing, The Labels have light spindle marks. NO WRITING OR MARKS. The Vinyl under strong light has a few superficial marks which do affect play.  An opportunity to own a Mega Rare true Psych classic.

VINYL: 

EXCELLENT . The vinyl is still bright and shows little signs of being played, There are NO deep penetrating scratches, only a few light superficial blemishes and light needle marks under bright light, Plays EXCELLENT ! very little crackle. 

SLEEVE:

VERY GOOD+ (front) Wonderfully clean unlaminated cover, light ring wear, please take a look at the photo's, sharp edges and opening, a little  spine wear, all spine text undamaged and clearly visible... (Back)  Fantastic again, somehow it has survived without picking up any staining or writing,  as a lot of albums have owners names in biro on them. NO damage. As they were not cheap at the time at £3.+ the average wage being £35 at the time. Most copies were played to death. This  sleeve is in hard to beat condition for it's age.   

INNER SLEEVE:

EXCELLENT+. Original paper type, being the very fragile inner sleeve is a great indicator of the amount of usage the album has had. I would say the inner is excellent and considering how fragile these are there, pretty good.....they are 45 years old, quite unbelievable intact condition.  

LABELS:

Clean, no spindle marks, no writing.

AUDIO GRADING:

Plays EXCELLENT, due to the depth of the grooves! The one of the rarest albums of the 1960's! From the opening track the record sounds still loud and bright! There are so many copies which are played to death, This copy plays with both channels playing without distortion, even pristine looking copies can hide the damage distortion caused by a damaged or blunt stylus. The playback is bright and sharp with a little background crackle here and there, an excellent playing copy, yes I listened all the way through loved it, but a pro-clean might help, the record is so loud in playback it does make you wonder why we started buying CD's... There are NO JUMPS, DISTORTION, OR FREQUENCIES DAMAGE.     

GRADING SYSTEM: In order to assist everyone who buys and sells rare discs, Record Collector magazine has originated a set of standards for the condition of second-hand records, I have added a (+) or (-) to my gradings where applicable.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. 
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. 
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

PAYMENT:

Items must be payed for within five days. If non payment within five days, I will then instigate an Ebay ruling. I will set up a dispute and either offer it to the runner up bidder or relist.

PACKAGING: 

I use preformed and standard mailers with stiffeners. I always take the vinyl out in its inner sleeve and place on top of the cover. This is then placed into a soft protective sleeve and packaged with stiffeners for full protection.
