RARE! CLASSIC SAVOY MG-12064 MONO ORIGINAL!!! TINY CUT-CORNER AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT, THICK POLY WRAP HAD NEVER BEEN OPENED UNTIL TODAY.
Upon opening this I discovered a basically near mint thick, heavy vinyl original LP that does appear to have been played. There is literally 1 tiny spindle trail on the side 1 label, and 3 similar short trails at the center hole on side 2. No scuffs or scratches, other than these small label indicators no obvious signs of use.
No this is NOT shrinkwrapped! In the 50's and even in the early-mid 60's record shops received their LP's from labels and/or distributors bare, no shrink, no bag, nothing. It was up to the record shops to either bag or wrap their stock, in most cases using some form of a heat seal. Those old loose-fit bags you see on LP's were put on by the shop that carried the item, NOT from the source. As described, this LP is NOT in shrinkwrap, which didn't come into general use until 1964 and later, it's in old school thick heat-sealed poly wrap. In the 60's you saw this a lot on deleted (i.e., cut-out or returns) titles from the 50's and early 60's, which never had any covering previously. This Savoy LP is one of those original deleted/returned titles, poly-wrapped by a shop at a later time. It IS the original issue.
