Description

This is an original, signed and numbered 3226 by Norman Granz 78 record and photo folio, "The Jazz Scene", recorded on Six 12" Mercury 78-RPM records.

The folio measures 12 1/2 X 15 inches and is spiral bound. It has many full page photographs of the jazz greats of the time and a nice double size fold out drawing by David Stone Martin. The exterior covers of the set have some very minor wear.

Text pages have varying degrees of age yellowing. Photos are in great condition, with the last photo in the folio having some rubbing on the right bottom corner.

Except as noted on the Neal Hefti/Charlie Parker record, all the records seem to be in excellent condition, with good shine and appear to have rarely been played, if at all. The six records included in this set are:

Duke Ellington, soloist Harry Carney, Frustration, Mercury Records 2078/
Duke Ellington, soloist Harry Carney, Sono, Mercury Records 2077

Coleman Hawkins, Picasso, Mercury Records 2073/
Lester Young, soloists Lester Young, Aye Guy, Buddy Rich, I Want to Be Happy, Mercury Records 2198

Ralph Burns, soloists Bill Harris, Herbie Steward, Sonny Berman, Introspection, Mercury Records 2075/
George Handy, soloists Bill Harris, Herbie Steward, The Bloos, Mercury Records 2076

Charlie Parker, soloists Charlie Parker, Hank Jones, Ray Brown, The Bird, Mercury Records 2081/
Willie Smith, Sophisticated Lady, Mercury Records 2074

Neal Hefti, Rhumbacito, Mercury Records 2072/

This record shows some rubbing on both sides, but it appears to play o.k.
