The Jimi Hendrix Experience : Electric Ladyland A1 / A2 / B2 / B2 Early Track Record Pressing
This classic album plays to the highest standard possible with no interference of any kind and has to be the finest Track Record version I have ever listened to. I cannot stress enough just how immaculate the audio is, there is not even a single tick let alone anything else. The clarity, depth, power and resonance of the audio is incredible and there is no distortion either which is a rarity. Having listened to every track in full I am 100% confident in my grading and this is without question a FINAL UPGRADE archive version - it has been so well looked after and has hardly been played. The vinyls are visually stunning and Side D still has some vinyl 'flecking' by the spindle hole.
The laminated gatefold is in lovely condition with only the bare minimum of wear and there is certainly nothing that stands out. It really is a stunning example! The original inner sleeves are also in excellent shape.
This Track Record pressing is a slightly later one as it has a 1/2/2/2 matrix and 'Two Record Set' on the labels. The gatefold however is a first press cover as it still has the smaller photos of Redding and Mitchell on the inside. They were not happy with this hence why their photos are larger on later pressings.

Visual grading
The vinyls are in superb condition and still have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Looking under a bright light I can only see one very faint hairline on Side C. There is no groove of surface wear and the Track Record labels are as close to perfect as is possible. Side A & D have only 2/3 minor spindle traces, Side B just one and Side C has none. As stated Side D still has a large vinyl 'fleck' on the spindle hole which sort of confirms they have hardly been played. Both these records are just stunning!
Play grading
The run in on S1 has no static etc which is rare for a record of this age and then 'And The Gods Made Love' plays with remarkable precision throughout with no interference at all. A couple of barely audible dust ticks at the beginning that is all. The swirling tape loop section is 'as new' and I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint the sonics could not be any more impressive.
The intro on 'Electric Ladyland' has no background and Hendrix's opening vocal is just as clean. It continues in the same way through every vocal and instrumental section and again Mint is deserved. Even the fade out has no intrusion.
'Cross Town Traffic' plays with great power and depth and the clarity of sound cannot be faulted either. It is Mint from start to finish. Already you can tell this classic album has been so well preserved and hardly played.
The segue into the classic 'Voodoo Chile' is perfect and the entire intro is just STUNNING! The depth and precision of the audio stands out here and Hendrix's opening vocal section is on the same level. The first high octane section is 'as new' also and it continues to play with a sonic quality that is second to none. I cannot overstate just how clean and powerful the audio is and Winwood contribution is sublime. The clarity and depth of sound is phenomenal and there is no distortion on he top end. The next relatively quiet vocal section has literally no background and this high end standard is kept up to the very end. Mitchell's work is stunning and Redding's strong bass adds so much to the superb 'clean' sound also - this is the definitive version as it just could not play any better. It's not even Mint- it is Mint in every sense of the word and even 'audience' end section has not one dust tick. Shut your eyes it's like you're in the room with them! A STUNNING version.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The acoustic intro on 'Little Miss Strange' is flawless and Redding's opening vocal is on a par with that. Again you really notice just how clean the audio is - each note is kind of drawn out and enhanced. The mid instrumental has no interference and the next vocal is just as strong. The 'jangly' guitar sequence towards the end for once plays so clearly and overall Mint is again a fair assessment of the audio.
'Long Hot Summer Night' keeps up this fine standard and plays with genuine quality. As any Hendrix aficionado will know this track often plays with a 'muddied' sound quality but there is none of that in evidence here. I only 'picked up' a couple of barely audible statics and Mint is again deserved.
'Come On' plays with impeccable power and clarity from the first note to the last with zero intrusion. I mean just listen to the mid instrumental from Hendrix. Wow! A Mint version.
'Gipsy Eyes' provides more evidence of a rarely 'spun' vinyl and plays with imperious quality i.e. no interference. Mint
The familiar wah wah intro on 'Burning Of The Midnight Lamp' could not play any better and the first vocal is just as good. It proceeds in the same way and the lack of distortion is an eye opener! I have recently invested in a new improved AT stylus / cartridge and it 'improves' the audio quality towards the end of the side a lot! I have never heard this classic play with so cleanly and that I guess is largely due to the stylus! And a well preserved vinyl of course! Mint
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The long bluesy intro on 'Rainy Day, Dream Away' plays to perfection and the opening vocal is equal to that. There are no ticks, clicks, pops or static and it plays with real sense of depth and warmth throughout. The clarity is 'as new' and the vocal / fade out section is a case in point - it is so quiet and yet there is not even a solitary dust tick. Mint all the way.
The intro on '1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)' is 'as new' there is no other way to describe it. The opening vocal has no background and it continues in the same precise way. The opening 4 minutes are faultless - the audio definition and resonance is just incredible! This track is a personal favourite of mine and I honestly do not think I have ever heard a more impressive version. The psychedelic section is STUNNING! Starting with Mitchell's percussion every note is just so clean and precise - by turning up the volume you hear every subtlety in the music, you miss nothing. Again there is not one dust tick and the clarity of sound is just fantastic, there are not enough words in the English dictionary! This entire section is Mint without a doubt and the quality does not drop I am delighted to say. Mitchell's percussive section in conjunction with Redding's bass is phenomenal and as the three of them build out of this section the playback is so strong and powerful with no distortion on the top end. The final vocal from Hendrix has no background and guitar sequence that ends this all time classic is just perfect. This has to be the most 'complete' version I have ever heard and it easily qualifies as MINT from the first note to the last. What. A. Version!
'Moon, Turn The Tides...', you will not be surprised to hear, ends the side with exceptional clarity and... no intrusion. As I often say - no dust ticks and Mint in every way.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Still Raining, Still Dreaming' plays with real quality from the get go. The intro is faultless and Hendrix's first vocal is just as strong. The following instrumental is superb and Redding's deep bass again adds so much to the sound. Hendrix's work is the real star of the show (really?!!) and there is no distortion at all. It plays with outstanding audio through every section and Mint is 100% deserved.
'House Burning Down' is of the same standard with... no interference. Again the lack of distortion is a stand out feature and I really cannot fault the sonic quality on offer here. Great power and depth. The guitar at the end - wow! Mint
The intro on the classic 'All Along The Watchtower' plays with tremendous sonic quality and the opening vocal has no intrusion either. It continues to play with sublime audio and there are no ticks, clicks etc. The 'cleanest' version you could wish to find it is Mint through every vocal and instrumental section.
The intro on 'Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)' is as good as new and Mitchell comes in the audio is just as clean. The next classic section from Hendrix is just stunning and the opening vocal has no intrusion either. From then on it plays with great power and depth and there is NO inner groove distortion. In essence it could not play any better - the sonic quality is out of this world! You can turn it up to max without having to turn it down it immediately! I cannot emphasise enough how well it plays and Mint is an honest appraisal of the audio.
In summary this has to be most impressive version of this classic album that I have ever listened to. Put simply there is no background, no interference of any kind and to say Side A, B, C and D play 'as new' is no exaggeration. A FINAL UPGRADE archive classic in every way. The clarity, depth and power of the audio is phenomenal and as stated it is obvious the vinyls have hardly ever been played. They are visually stunning with an immaculate glossy 'look' and together with a superb cover this will add to any high end collection.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves
The fully laminated E.J. Day cover is quite possibly the best I have ever seen, there is no obvious wear - it is stunning! The edges and corners are superb clean without any wear / rubbing and the wide spine is in superb shape also with just the usual crease running down the centre caused by being opened but it has no compression or laminate damage. How often do you find this iconic cover with barely any corner wear?! The opening edges look hardly touched and the front cover is in lovely condition with just one small laminate crease by the right edge and a couple of minor ones next to the top edge. The back cover is near perfect with just one small crease by the top left corner, another minor one next to the opening edge and a tiny corner crease bottom right but that is being super critical! The inside of the gatefold is so clean and has that familiar crackle as you open it - it clearly has not been opened very much as the inner spine has no real laminate wear. This truly is a superb example of this infamous cover.
The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner sleeves (dated 0572) are unmarked and have hardly any creasing. Only one of them has a small tear on the central aperture.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
