Description

Artist / Title: THE JOHNNY OTIS SHOW / self-titled
Label / Number: Capitol / T-940

Description:

What an awesome record!  Johnny Otis shows off his mega-talent as a bandleader, singer and all around musician as he leads a cast of rock-n-roll artists in this epic record from 1958.  The original price tag is still on the record as you can see.  Book value from Goldmine's 2010 issue is $250 in NM condition.

Vinyl is in VG++  condition
Beautiful shine! The vinyl has a couple very light needle marks and some very light scuffing. There is a single mark about a sixteenth of an inch long that creates a click over a couple revolutions and then a repeating skip - this is near the end on song 1, side 1.  This mark can be seen in the second shot of side 1 (second full vinyl shot, 12th frame down) - its near the top left of the record (top left of center), again, very small.  Help the needle through this spot and the rest of the record is awesome. Labels show slight wear but are bright.

Album cover is in VG++ to NM- condition
Front cover art/photo is bright and brilliant.  Edges are nice and sharp.  One small hairline split from mouth at top seam in about an inch.  Spine looks excellent with all print reading clearly, same with all other print areas.  Back cover has some age spotting, slight foxing.  Print on back looks great as you can see in the pictures.

Overall, this is one of THE great surf records in history... a must-have for any surf and hot-rod music fan.  All the instrumentals are just fantastic.

Thanks for looking!
Mike

Grading Details:

NM = Near Mint
has been opened, but is still flawless with no damage whatsoever.

NM- = Near Mint Minus
looks nearly perfect, plays excellent, may have a stray very light mark or nearly invisible scuff

VG++ = Very Good Plus Plus
vinyl will have some visible light marks, none detectable to the touch but very light. Covers should have only very light wear at common contact points, nowhere else. If marking would be present, it must be extremely small and nearly undetectable.

VG+ = Very Good Plus
record will look great with only light scuffs or scratches not detectable to the touch, no skipping - covers for this grade should not have any obvious signs of wear but could have some light creases, light wear at the seams, maybe a very small and sharp seam split. Any wear will be listed in the description
