Description
A superb example of this original UK 1966 mono issue of The Kinks fourth UK album. It would be hard to find a better copy.
Classic songs as they were meant to sound i.e. in glorious mono (Sunny Afternoon has never sounded better).
Catalogue No: NPL 18149
Stamped matrices: Side 1- NPL 18149 A2 (triangle symbol) H
Side 2- NPL 18149 B1 (triangle symbol) H
This is a very rare first pressing made in England. Both sides of the heavy quality vinyl LP are in great condition and have been extremely well cared for, without scratches, scuffs or hairlines. It plays loud and strong with superb rich and punchy sound. There are no scratches or repeating ticks.
It is housed in its original issue front laminated flipback Garrod and Lofthouse picture sleeve.
RECORD
Heavyweight vinyl with a clear sheen and only limited very light hairline / slight scuffing.
Plays superbly. No jumps, sticking or repeating clicks. Inevitable very slight background random crackle but hardly noticeable even between tracks - it certainly does not distract from the remarkably clear and powerful sound. Sounds almost new, so on my grading system (see below)_it is EX+
LABELS
Pye pink label. No markings. A few very light spindle marks. EX+
COVER
The jacket is fully intact and all text clearly legible. No writing, stickers, etc. Solid seams, crisp opening, shiny fully intact laminate except for very slight peelback on opening edge. Spine is firm, intact and with clearly legible text. Some very slight yellowing with age and a small trace of ring wear on the rear. Edges are firm with only slight rubbing. Only defect of note is a 2” tear along the top edge – although it is not visible from front or rear. Overall it is a very solid great looking cover (see photos) but, due to tear, rates VG+
I use a slight variant on RC gradings (see below) but tend to grade conservatively because, firstly, as a collector myself, I know how frustrating it is to receive ‘over-graded’ items and, secondly, I am having a clearout over the coming months (years?) and wish to maintain and develop a good reputation. I never grade a used record as Mint as that is a contradiction in terms. All of my records have been play tested.
All records have been cleaned with a Moth machine.
I will endeavour to post all items within 2 working days of Paypal payment (or cheque clearing).
While I describe as honestly and accurately as I can, a refund is guaranteed if you are not satisfied with the items as described. This has not been necessary to date and my feedback has been 100% positive.
Thanks for looking.
Record Collector Grading System:
M = Mint: Never been played or item still sealed. Cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster (ie contents) are in perfect condition.
Ex = Excellent: Shows some signs of being played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VG = Very Good: Obviously been played many times but no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on cover or contents, without any major defects.
Gd = Good: Sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion. Mild scratches. Cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.
Fair: Still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise - it may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor: Will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. Cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
I also use Plus (+) or Minus (-) to allow for items that fall between the above grades.price rating
