THE KOLLEKTION – SAVAGE LOST / MY WORLD IS EMPTY WITHOUT YOU (HEADS-UP W101) (VG/VG-)

From Miami Florida, this band is quite high on the list of one-hit wonder garage-psych masterpieces.  The band was formed from members in many different local Florida bands, hence the name Kollektion. Savage Lost sounds like it could have been recorded in a 1967 London studio and has a very British psych arrangement feel to it.  It’s a relentless attack on the senses with swirling organ, killer guitar and excellent vocals from Angel Rissoff (He also co-wrote the song and is a classic white-soul singer heavily influenced by Mark Stein of the Vanilla Fudge.) The Kollection was enamored with the live performances of The Pidgeons (an early incarnation of Vanilla Fudge) that inspired them to take the flip, My World is Empty        (another Supremes song) and slow it way down like the Fudge did. But it was not quite as successful. Savage Lost did OK on the Miami airwaves, but a rival radio station that wouldn’t play it hurt their exposure. The name of this song turned out to be a perfect title for a book on lost Florida Garage bands in 2012 by Limestone Records, which still has a few copies left on their website. This copy I’m selling isn’t in the greatest shape, grade at VG/VG-, but the good news is that on Savage Lost you can barely hear any of the visible scuffing at all and somehow it plays as EX-.  My World is Empty however sounds pretty scratchy, as it is a quieter recording.  Check out the scans and audio samples.

Hi folks, this is Velvetfogg, founder of the U-SPACES music collective which ran from 1997 to 2020 on Yahoogroups and has now switched over to Facebook.  The primary focus of U-SPACES was to provide a network of Psych & Garage music aficionados to build and share compilations of non comped songs. Over the past 40 years I have amassed a large 45 & LP collection which I am now choosing to put up for auction to help fund my kid’s college educations.  Generally speaking, I am only putting things up for auction that are either in excellent condition or extremely rare.

My preference is to run these auctions on EBAY because of familiarity with the process, but there is the potential that I will switch or use other platforms in parallel in the future.  Check out my collection on DISCOGS under VELVETFOGG. I have only listed 45’s on that site that I plan to auction in 2021/22 and the list will grow substantially on a weekly basis as I continue to go through my collection. I hope to list 10 records per week for EBAY auctions on Sundays.
