THE LILAC TIME: Self Titled 1st Album (1988 UK Fontana SFLP 6 ) Signed by Band Members + Promo Cards
For auction is a copy of The Lilac Time's eponymous first album signed by the band themselves and including two promotional postcards.
This came in a bundle of promo records I purchased roughly twenty years ago and it''s provenance is beyond doubt (see my previous auctions). The record has been signed by Stephen Duffy, his brother Nick and what certainly looks like both Claire Worrall and Mike Giri although they have overlapped the signatures. Frankly I cannot imagine who else it might be!
The all round condition of record and sleeve is excellent verging mint - with the vinyl lush, glossy and free from scuffs scratches and hairlines. The sleeve is free from stickers, ageing and rips though on the top right corner some ghostly writing is detectable saying "£30 Signed" that seems to have bled through from some careless labelling decades back. It's nothing drastic though (see pic). The inner sleeve is clear, bright and correct. The bonus and unusual promo postcards depict a fuller shot of the albums cover and remain unused on the reverse. These were not included in the normal commercial release.
This may have been autographed for a competition winner and come direct from the record company hence the cards and full names.
Though some later copies have surfaced signed by Stephen I have never seen one that has featured the rest of the band too. Good luck with your bidding.
