THE LOVIN' SPOONFUL - DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC - BLUES / POP ROCK - NEW

Do You Believe In Magic 2:04 Blues In The Bottle 2:10 Sportin' Life 4:02 My Gal 2:30 You Baby 2:55 Fishin' Blues 1:58 Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind 2:00 Wild About My Lovin' 2:38 Other Side Of This Life 2:30 Younger Girl 2:23 On The Road Again 1:52 Night Owl Blues 3:00
A diverse album, with a great collection of songs ranging from folk, to hard rock, to solid blues, to chart topping pure pop. Even a great Phil Spector cover. It's quite deceiving how such an innocuous looking band could lay down such an authentic piece of blue-eyed blues, like "Night Owl Blues" and especially "Sportin' Life".

John Sebastian is an extremely underrated arranger, and not to mention penning classics like the title track, the catchy "Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind" which is a song I never get tired of, and "Younger Girl", which is one of the most gorgeous songs of the year 1965. One of my personal favorites is "On The Road Again", which sounds quite heavy for it's time. Something the Kinks might have done 5 years later.
