THE MIRACLES - HI! WE'RE THE MIRACLES

1963 UK MONO 12" LP ORIOLE PS 40044

Matrix Numbers : Side 1  PS 40044 A with hand etched XCTV 65462 - 2KA, Side 2  PS 40044 B with hand etched XCTV 65463 - 2KA

A very nice copy of this 1963 1st press soul classic!

Both sides of the completely flat vinyl have retained virtually all of their original sheen and have a great appearance. Looking closely under a halogen right, and tilted at the right angle, there are a few wispy hairlines in evidence, however, but I suspect that these are mainly paper scuffs caused by the inner sleeve. There are no distinguishable flaws at all in normal daylight, apart from a very, very light 3cm pencil thin scuff on side 2, and even under a bright light you need to look hard. Truly excellent condition.

The front side laminated, flipback Ernest J. Day outer sleeve is in very good condition, with original, vibrant colouring fully intact. There are some flaws, however : on the front side just towards the centre there is a small nick, a 5cm score line is in evidence just below the "I" in "HI", each corner suffers from some scuffing, and on side 2 there is some age discolouration (see photo). There is also some creasing on the front side adjacent to, and overlapping, the spine. Apart from that the edges are all pretty rigid and well defined, there is no unwanted writing, and the front side photo and reverse side sleeve writing are very nicely intact.

The quality of the audio is excellent. No skips (obviously) with just the occasional hint of some very light background (non-intrusive) crackle during the quieter moments but nothing to detract from the overall excellent sound quality. A great listen throughout.

Each label is near perfect, with no obvious blemishes whatsoever - not even the usual faint spindle trace!

The track listing is :

Side 1:

1. WHO'S LOVIN' YOU

2. DEPEND ON ME

3. HEART LIKE MINE

4. SHOP AROUND

5. WON'T YOU TAKE ME BACK

6. CAUSE I LOVE YOU

Side 2 :

1. YOUR LOVE

2. AFTER ALL

3. WAY OVER THERE

4. MONEY

5. DON'T LEAVE ME

Comes complete with poly-lined inner sleeve, with no tears or splits and still fully functional though it does suffer from some mild age discolouration. Unfortunately the inner sleeve has "Tribute To Uncle Ray - Little Stevie Wonder" written on it, so it looks like it's the wrong inner sleeve!

Considering it's 52 year antiquity this groundbreaking soul classic remains in a strong VG condition overall condition and the audio is a joy to listen to.

IF THIS ITEM INTERESTS YOU THEN YOU MAY LIKE TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY OTHER 60's/70'S VINYL OFFERINGS ALSO CURRENTLY ON EBAY : SOME REAL RARITIES!

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 45 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. I worked in IT for 22 years before doing a complete career change to teach Maths in a high school at the ripe old age of 45 - probably the best career move that I ever made. I took great joy in indulging the "kids" in my eclectic collection of 60's and 70's vinyl, even once dedicating a whole PSE lesson to the Genesis classic "Foxtrot".  But now I am retired and a combination of space requirements and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.

My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller, and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take care in removing the record from the outer sleeve and properly protecting it in a separate white inner sleeve in order to prevent outer sleeve damage in transit, and for items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon postal insurance so please wait for an invoice before paying. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. Richard
