FRANK ZAPPA & THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION-FREAK OUT 1966 VERVE RECORDS METAL CORE ACETATE 2 LP'S IN A STRONG VG+ CONDITION. MOSTLY CLEAN VINYL!! OK, yes, this is Zappa's first recording with the Mothers Of Invention in its near rawest form, the metal core acetate test pressing. I've done a fair amount of research on this as I've only had one of these before and this one, let's face it, is a lot more important than the Jon Butcher Axis one I had before it.  A little background, I bought this at an auction in Bergen County NJ from the brother of the deceased man who formerly owned this. That brother had an insane amount of Frank Zappa ephemera with this one being the prize. From what I was told, he had one of the largest collections of Zappa memorabilia in the country, sure looked like it. The records are both scratch free but there are a load of markings that I've tried to capture in the 12 photos given for this auction. There are cue marks, arrows and other markings that look like they could be for the final editing. I say that because the times on the majority of the tracks run shorter or longer than the finished product for the public. No sale would be complete from me without full disclosure, on this white label, and what makes it so weird is that this acetate actually went to a radio station as it is a DJ promo(you can see this on the labels). Most acetates were not produced for radio play but it was not unheard of, just not done very often. If someone has a reason why this one was produced for this reason I can add to this description, I would appreciate it.
The records are clean with the exception of the markings and cues, no scratches. I will only play it if asked since most collectors know better than to play one. I truly hope this goes to the true fan!!
