Description
THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION (FRANK ZAPPA) - 'WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY.' STEREO! UK 1st pressing on black/silver VERVE labels. SVLP 9199 (1967). First issue matrix and glossy laminated flipback gatefold sleeve. 'SOLD IN UK...' label text. Heavy vinyl. Fabulous example in final upgrade condition.
BIG Frank Zappa rarity. Do not underestimate how scarce this is as a UK pressing especially in this fine EX++/Near Mint condition. It is hardly ever seen like this. A great opportunity for the serious Frank Zappa and Mothers of Invention collector!
UK fully laminated flipback Gatefold sleeve grades full EXCELLENT PLUS PLUS (EX++) condition, perhaps even NEAR MINT. Intact, fully legible spine and large font/text. Clean and solid condition with only very light signs of age and handling wear. Inside gatefold is very clean with the laminated flipback flaps appearing over the top of the gatefold interior. Glossy laminate is in wonderful shape. The diagonal flipback corners show the print 'off-register', so some white is showing.
This is a big Zappa/Mothers collectible and very desirable particularly as a UK first pressing in EX+/NEAR MINT shape.
The very glossy and deep black vinyl grades EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+) even EX++!
I (and many others) would consider this album a major rarity in this condition. To find a cleaner one could be a life's work and a very expensive outlay. I have been the custodian of this treasured copy for about 20 years.
In all a great example of this very rare UK Frank Zappa/Mothers album. The labels are in great condition with the 'SOLD IN UK...' text.
