“HIPPIE COPPELIA”

(Various)

(The Motown Sound – A Collection Of Original 16 Big Hits Vol. 7)

WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD TO FIND original PROMOTIONAL STAMPED MONO very first Tamla Motown Records press made, released and distributed in Chile in 1967 by Corporación De Radio De Chile S.A. (CRC Records), with yellow/black Tamla Motown Records labels, catalog number MM-661-X, with hand etched matrix numbers MM-661-A AA in Side 1 and MM-661-B AA in Side 2. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!! WOW!!!

“The Motown Sound – A Collection Of Original 16 Big Hits Vol. 7” was originally released in 1967 and late the same year we could see this great compilation released in Chile, but like in most of the cases of that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER!!! The cover is unlaminated and is the typical Chilean cover made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle with 2 single sheets of paper for front and back covers partially glued to the cardboard in the mouth edge and kept together for an outer plastic bag. As you can see if you know this album, here in Chile we also got this album with an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! In this link you can see the original PS and tracklist: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/comp/various_artists_f2/the_motown_sound__a_collection_of_original_16_big_hits_vol__7/. And as you can see we got an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and UNIQUE TRACKLIST!!! Yes, in Chile both the front and back covers keep the same design, a set of other 12 Motown albums covers released in Chile (by The Supremes, The 4 Tops, The Temptations among others) with the UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE “Hippie Coppelia” and two pink circles with the text “Coppelianos Del Mundo Unios” (Coppelians Of The World Kept Together) and “I’m Hippie About You”. Those years “Coppelia” was the name of a restaurant and coffee shop located in Santiago and it was the favorite place for “hippies”. In front and back cover the tracklist is written only in Spanish and is numbered from 1 to 16. In labels the tracklist is also written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters but no mention to singers and bands, it’s informed to read the cover. We also got a change in Side 1, because in Chile they included the song “Reflections” by Diana Ross And The Supremes as number 1, originally not included, and omitted the song by The Marvelettes (originally number 4), so the first 4 tracks in this Chilean issue are:

  1. Reflections – Diana Ross And The Supremes (originally listed as The Supremes only)

  2. Ain’t Too Proud To Beg – The Temptations

  3. Pucker Up Buttercup – Jr. Walker & The All Stars

  4. Back In My Arms Again – Diana Ross And The Supremes (originally listed by The Supremes only)

All the other songs are the same and they are in the same position as the original album. So, here you have the chance to own this compilation of classic Motown hits with an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, UNIQUE EDITED TRACKLIST and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE, only used here in Chile!!! Both back cover and label of Side 1 had the PROMOTIONAL STAMP “Muestra Sin Valor Comercial” (SAMPLE WITHOUT COMMERCIAL VALUE)!!! WOW!!! Yes Sirs, AMAZING FIND from Chile again!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- or VG condition, complete and clear, no ring marks, no writings, some minimal wear in the edges, more evident in mouth and corners, some light age browning, some rips, many faint blemishes and some residues of tape. The record is in strong VG- condition both sides, glossy and clean but with loads of scuffs and hairlines and soft scratches, which don’t affect play. Labels are in EX or EX+ condition both sides, absolutely clear, with only some minimal spindle hole wear, some very faint blemishes and a very curious writing in Side 2, “Disco Proibido (misspelled) Por SSMS Santiago De Chile” (Forbidden Record By SSMS – Health Service Of South Of Santiago – Santiago Of Chile), it’s impossible to know if that was a joke or the record was really banned by the public autorithies of that department. The sound is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, but with constant soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), more evident at the beginning of each side, some light clicks and pops here and there, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the nice audio this record keeps from the beginning to the end!!! Sure this record saw better days but overall,it’s still a nice record, not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but the UNIQUE COVER is complete and clear and the record retains a very glossy look and a decent sound quality after almost 45 years!!! And don’t forget you will only find this UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and UNQIUE ALBUM TITLE and UNIQUE TRACKLIST in this Chilean issue, it’s a PROMOTIONAL STAMPED COPY and it has that writing about to have been banned!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ

We are not responsible for all the taxes, duties, fees you could have to pay in your country, but I always declare the records as gift.

If you have some doubt or question feel free to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this item.
