What you are bidding on is a stunning original factory sealed lp of THE MUSIC OF GURDJIEFF / DE HJARTMAN (Piano).  This is a classic avant guarde lp on TRIANGLE RECORDS made by ECM.  Long out of print.  It won't get any better than this. 4 LP box set, still sealed!

Of the music he notated and harmonized under Gurdjieff’s direction between June of 1925 and May of 1927, the only recordings issued by de Hartmann before he died in 1956 were a set of six 12-inch 78 rpm phonograph records, containing twenty different pieces, all recorded at Bartok Studio in New York City between 1951 and 1953.

Most, if not all, other recordings of his playing this music were taped casually at Madame Ouspensky’s farm near Mendham, New Jersey, by her grandson, Lonia Savitsky. Made with neither the intention nor the technology for a public release, they were only for de Hartmann’s personal reference. Sometimes the tapes were even made without de Hartmann’s knowledge.

In the early 1960s, some of the material on the original 78 rpm records was reissued in long-playing (LP) format (33 1/3 rpm), or rearranged with other new items on discs corresponding to four volumes of sheet music, issued by Janus Press earlier in the 1950s.

All of the above recordings were available only privately and reissued from time to time into the 1970s. In 1985, more extended selections of de Hartmann’s recordings were issued to the general public in two formats: a boxed set of four long-playing records and a set of four audio-cassettes. All the best quality recordings were remastered and improved by the most up-to-date technical methods available at that time. Still later, in 1989, this compilation was re-released on a set of three compact discs (CDs) with additional new material included. The cassette and CD sets are currently available from Triangle Editions.

Warehouse find! Hundreds of soul and rock sealed lps coming.....

TRIANGLE RECORDS

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THESE SEALED LPS!  READ!  All of these lps are new and sealed and have been for nearly 40 years.  If you are planning on playing this, I highly recommend that you allow us to unseal (I'll leave the shrink on) and ship the record outside the sleeve. This is the only way of assuring that the sleeve does not get any seam splits.  If I am required on your part to ship sealed and leave that way I'll be glad to, but we cannot be responsible of seam splits during transit.  (you know how the post office can be).  IF YOU WISH FOR ME TO REMOVE THE LP FROM THE SLEEVE, TELL ME WHEN YOU PAY FOR THE ITEM AND I'LL SHIP OUTSIDE THE SLEEVE. Otherwise if you don't say anything, I'll assume you want me to leave sealed and you will be taking the chance of seam splits during shipment. You will acknowledge this if you bid in this item.  I assure you there are no seam splits on any of these lp's unless I put it in the description. There is no amount of packing material that you can ship these in and be 100% safe from this.  We package in professional sleeves, but if the post office chunks it, they chunk it....and shipping outside the cover protects it from damage.  Most of the time it is not a problem, but it does happen from time to time.  Thanks for understanding.
