Description
THE PENTANGLE - " THE PENTANGLE " , Transatlantic Records Ltd. (TRA 162) Stereo, 1968.
Very rare, 1968, English 1st issue (early pressing) LP of the classic Pentangle debut album.
Featuring the all-important laminated sleeve and first label design.
Matrix numbers
SIDE A = TRA 162 A2 matrix.
SIDE B = TRA 162 S B1 matrix.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve had been lost by the time this record came to me unfortunately, although Liberty inners from this time were just plain white whith no particular markings or correlation relating to this specific record... so, no great loss - see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = EX- (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, light spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out some very light hairline marks and a few other faint paper scuffs just visible on the vinyl's surface - although none of these correspond directly to any audible defects. It generally plays pretty well, but there is some very faint occasional surface noise audible during the run-in and between tracks. The record plays strong and vibrant without any distortion or other signs of audio degradation, I did hear the odd faint click or crackle in the background from time to time during a couple of quieter intros, but I was using headphones to hear this and generally once the music kicks in that's all you can hear.
Overall, although it is not quite perfect and I realise this will affect the value, it is by no means ruined by these very minor imperfections and would still make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G.- (No rips, tears, big damage, defacing, etc. But had to be marked down for some lighter creases in the laminate and some delamination along the edges and both front and back covers are a bit grubby - see photos for further clarification)
