Description
Flying Nun's third release, FN003. A side - Coat. B side - Jim. Near Mint!!! You would be hard-pressed to find a copy of this, let alone one in such pristine condition.
Photo's are of actual record sleeve - incl one of the insert advertising a mailing list for future releases and promising a studio recording next time
I purchased it new in 1981 and only played it a handful of times on a high end turntable - I may have only played it once, as I used to make compilation tapes of 45s Vinyl looks brand new! - I don't remember playing this one
Has been in storage for a long time in a zipped plastic bag (from immediately after purhase), so record and sleeve are in excellent condition The sleeve is in excellent condition, but has a ring of colour in the centre of the back which presumably came off the next sleeve it was rested against or packed with, when originaly printed, as it is greeny blue. There is also slight yellowing on two sides of the rear sleeve from the tape used to join it - presumably all copies of this would be the same now. The sleeve has come unstuck for about 7 cm on one side from the tape deterioration - not suprising after 31 years. I have not attempted to repair it. A very rare collectable piece of vinyl - only 300 made as far as I know - all with hand screenprinted covers in a variety of colours with what looks like a hand-stamped rear cover, labels and an insert (that I never noticed til it slipped into my hand just now) A rare chanceto get one of my very rae NZ records - more to be listed in near future. I also have a selection of very rare NZ music posters incl The Chills , Clean, Bats, SJF etc This review is from discogs
Review by Subtropix Jul 20, 2009 (edited over 2 years ago) This is the quintessential Flying Nun release. I have 95% of the Flying Nun catalogue in my collection and yet I keep coming back to this 7" single as my most important piece. Maybe it's the Andy Waholesque Kiwifruit cover, so brilliantly designed and screenprinted by Ronnie van Hout. I know of eight different colour variations of this. I currently have five and would sell anything I own to get more. If you own this masterpiece, consider yourself very fortunate.
