Description

Massively Rare Original 1967 U.K. Mono 1st Pressing 'Piper at The Gates of Dawn' by The Pink Floyd!!! - This is Mega Rare UK Columbia KT Stamped Black/Blue Label 1st Pressing Complete With Original E. J. Day Flipback Mono Sleeve!!! The ONLY way to own this Seminal Psychedelic Record!!!!

You are bidding on one of the all time classic UK psychedelic LP's - this record is impossible to find anymore as a UK Columbia mono 1st press!!!  Seen by many as one of THE BEST psychedelic albums ever made, extra significance is now attached to this record due to the fact that it was the late Syd Barrett's greatest work with Pink Floyd. Just a glance at the track listing will reveal the Barrett was solely credited for writing approximately 80% of this album. This record was made when Syd was at his creative peak, and, in  my opinion,  is a lasting testament to his genius. What makes this particular copy so very rare however, is that it is the Original 1967 1st Ever UK Mono Pressing, with the blue/black Columbia labels which have the raised KT tax stamp!!! It also has the important 2//1 matrix!!! Believe me, as a UK Mono 1st pressing, this is a very sought-after record today!!! This record only had an incredibly short Mono press run on these 1st press Columbia labels and is very, very  difficult to find anymore - most copies of this record turn up today as much later 'fame' reissues. This is the ultimate UK 1st press, straight from the master!!! A very rare record, don't miss  - Good Luck!

Side 2: X4X 3420 -1

The classic 1st press KT Stamped blue/black Columbia centre labels  are in stunning EX++ condition with NO Tears, NO Peeling, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!! Just some faint spindle lines and that's it!!! The gramophone rims containing the all important matrix's are also mint!!! The thick quality pressed chunky 1960's vinyl looks and feels great (it is very heavy!).  Most original Mono 1st press copies of this record were played to death in the late 60's and 70's and only turn up today full of scratches with a dull sheen and totally worn out. This one is NOT and the record stills retains a beautiful sheen, and although not perfect it has survived remarkably well and is certainly one of the better examples I have seen!!! The record does have a few lines and a few light surface marks - but plays remarkably well!!!! The record still retains ALL its original gloss and shine and has NO dulling and NO nasty greying of the grooves!!! However I WILL NOT fall into the trap of over-grading to compensate for rarity and the record must PROPERLY grade visually Very Good!!!! Believe me this record is NOT over-graded in ANY way!!!

The original 1st press E. J. Day  front laminated flip-back sleeve is also in great condition. These sleeves ALWAYS turn up grubby and worn-out looking today. This one is not!!! The laminate is in beautiful crisp , clear condition, bringing out all the bold vibrant colours of this legendary sleeve!!! The sleeve still retains ALL of its original stiffness and BOX SHAPE!!! It has NO unwanted writing or scribbles (again, very common with other sleeves) The sleeve lies perfectly FLAT with NO RING WEAR but does have moderate feathering to the opening edge, and some very light wear to the corners as is common with this sleeve. The un-laminated Syd Barrett designed sleeve back is where the usual problems occur on these sleeves. However I am pleased to report that this one is SUPERB!!! As is usual here is a little line of discolouration along the edge of the flip-back that was not laminated, and one tiny spot of discolouration above the 'S' in the title, but that's about it!!! It is remarkably clean and is one of the best you will see!!! A superb example of this sleeve which grades as Very Good+ at the very least - most would grade much higher!!!! Anyone familiar with this original mono sleeve will appreciated how rare it is in this condition!!! Comes complete with its original EMI ads and 'patents applied for' inner sleeve which is in superb Ex+ condition. With no scribbles, seam splitting or nasty creases!!!  As you are probably now aware, I usually class Excellent as my cut off point for selling vinyl on eBay (in fact, most of my vinyl is Excellent+ to Nr Mint), but finding a UK Columbia 1st press of 'Piper at The Gates of Dawn' is such a rare event that I think this one is worthy of inclusion even at Very Good!!! A seminal album that just never turns up for sale anymore!!! Don't miss it!!!

Please check out our feedback and bid with confidence as this is a no reserve auction with a very low starting price!!! Forget the later inferior re-pressings, this is the only way you should listen to this record!!! This record is massively rare to find on the original UK 1st press Blue/Black Mono Columbia label anymore.  if you have never heard this record, it will blow you away!!! An absolutely essential (and very rare) psychedelic record to own!!!

Please see my other auctions as I am are also currently listing more Pink Floyd/ Syd Barrett rarities along with many more UK Prog/Rock/Psych/Folk & Rock 1st Pressings!!!!

All my records have No reserve, a Low Start and No Surcharges!

Being the responsible adults you are, it is entirely up to you to take this up  - we strongly advise you to do this but will not hassle you about it. You either add the required insurance or you don't. If you do add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will get a refund. Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...

Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
