This auction is for an original vinyl 45rpm record called ‘Looking For The Sun’ by The Plague.

Notes – Very little is known about the mysterious band, The Plague, who made this sole 45 for Decca in 1968. A prime slice of UK psychedelia, the sound, style and production is reminiscent of labelmates The Ice and even Virgin Sleep. Research into the Decca archives also yielded zero results, apart from an obscure publicity photo, presumably trying to disguise the actual line-up of the band.
At a guess, this 45 may well have been a put together studio only project trying to cash in on the UK psychedelic scene which was pretty much over by 1968 anyway.
Some 40 years later, with only one 45 to their name, perhaps the clue lies in the title of the B side of their single titled 'Here Today, Gone Tomorrow'. Maybe they knew something we didn't. Their legacy is this highly prized collectable psych 45, so expect to pay a whole load for a nice original copy!
This 45 is a genuine reissue from Decca in absolutely Mint (unplayed) condition.

The Catalogue number is F 12730.

CONDITION –
The vinyl is in Mint (unplayed) condition.
The sleeve is in Excellent condition (a plain white sleeve).

The all important labels are in superb condition. There is no writing or other blemishes, the text is striking and clearly legible with NO fading, they are as pristine as the day they left the factory. The spindle is clean with no evidence of wear and show no signs of visible playing.
This copy has not been played and looked after.
The vinyl is in great condition and free from any marks or blemishes.
The most outstanding aspect of this copy is the clean nature of the record. This 45 single has clearly been loved and treasured by a keen collector. No allowances having to be made for its vintage, which is astounding in itself.
This single is becoming increasingly rare, especially in this condition.
