This is a superb near MINT copy of this rare UK recording on the black/gold Parlophone label. This is a first press copy (I doubt whether there was a second pressing) with matrix numbers XE 220-1N and XE 221-1N. The stampers are 1,G and 1,G. Everything about this particular copy is absolutely top of the scale.

The VINYL is practically faultless. The vinyl retains all its original lustre and is pretty much as good as the day it was bought.  Even when viewed under bright angled light there is only one totally non-audible mark visible (on side 2 track one). This is the only visible sign of use. There is literally no evidence that this LP has been played more than a handful of times. I have no hesitation in grading this visually as near MINT. Check out my feedback - you will see I do not exaggerate the grades of records I sell.

The audio quality matches the appearance with a pristine original sound with no distortion, no groove wear, nothing to mar the sound qaulity at all. Mint audio. There were two pops between tracks and one almost inaubible click on track one side one but thats it.

The black/gold Parlophone labels are MINT with no signs of use at all.

The LP has its original inner which is again mint.

The COVER of course is what often lets these 50's LPs down. It is a flimsy fully laminated thin card cover. However this example is in superb condition. It has no edge wear, no spine wear and no laminate lifting. There are no creases not even in the laminate. It is absolutely flat with sharp unworn corners. The opening edge is razor sharp. The spine is fabulous (see photo) retaining the 'pinch' at either end and with none of those annoying creases caused by careless handling. There is a small scuff on the front below the 'T's' of Platters. You can see this in the photo but it hardly detracts from the overall superb cover. This cover must grade at least EX.

Overall this is a fabulous example of this very rare UK Doo Wop original and could hardly be bettered.

I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.

GRADING SYSTEM

NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above

EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.

GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.

I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.
