Description

THE PRETTY THINGS - GET THE PICTURE?

Overall very nice condition and highly presentable copy of this 1965 UK 1st press Pretty Things R&B classic, with a few minor blemishes only and every track remaining a great listen

Year/Label :  UK Fontana 1965

Label number :  TL 5280

Matrix numbers :  687359 1L//1 420  /  687359 2L//1 420

Stampers :  1 1  3   /   1 1  1

Increasingly rare and sought after 1965 UK 1st press Pretty Things R&B gem.  Very good plus (VG+) condition weighty and completely flat glossy vinyl still retaining a nice jet black sheen with some hairlines and very light, small scuff marks on each side, and apart from a slightly more visible single 1cm very light scuff mark on side 1 - still strictly surface only - only really in evidence with close scrutiny under a bright light, and with all being non-feelable and appearing to be superficial and surface only (though there is the occasional low level background click - see below).  Excellent (EX) condition rough textured labels with a few small and very light spindle trails on each.  Very good plus (VG+) condition original front-side only laminated and reverse side "paste-on" outer sleeve with no cardboard creasing, firm unscuffed edges (apart from a 1cm bottom edge scuff adjacent to the bottom right corner), some minor rubbing on each corner, and although the reverse side remains in overall impressive condition there is some bubbling towards the top left corner where the paste-on has started to come away a little from the cardboard sleeve (see photo), along with some minor storage/age related marks towards the edges. Overall very good plus (VG+) - at least - MONO sound quality with no skips, repeats, jumps, nasty clicks, or interference, and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - just the hint of some very minor crackle during a couple of the intermissions and quieter moments. Similarly, there are some occasional low level, very background clicks - x2 on A4, x2 towards the start of B1, x10 towards the start of B2, and x4 midway through B5..all very minor and certainly not impinging upon the overall impressive sound tone and clarity, with every track a great listen.

Comes complete with original plain white inner sleeve with "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" horizontal texts, no creasing but there is a single 10cm edge split on one side, and barely any age discolouration. I always supply a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve as a matter of course.

Such an underrated album - the epitome of 60's R&B and a "must" for any serious vinyl collection.

POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £5 using Royal Mail 1st class signed for;

for continental Europe £14 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked/signed for,

and for the rest of the world £20 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked/signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
