Description

I’m selling this original copy of this 1970 classic Harvest LP “PARACHUTE” by The Pretty Things – a great psych-prog-rock release by this powerful and resilient British beat combo! it is the hard-to-find-original 1st pressing UK album, in excellent condition.

The run-out groove verifies the originality of the pressing, as the Side 2 matrix number was partly crossed and re-stamped, as the manufacturers committed an error with the text "774", which was corrected on later pressings.

The run-out groove matrix markings are: (Side One): SHVL 774 A - 2; SHVL 774 B - 2 (Side Two)

The Record Collector magazine gradings can be applied to this vinyl 12” LP, and this copy can be adjudged as “EXCELLENT (EX)”: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The striking cover design and packaging shows only slight wear and marginal spine-creasing.

All my vinyl is stored properly at room temperature, and mine is a smoke and pet-free home. This is a rare chance to own an early copy of a coveted collector’s item.

Sleeve = EX: The laminated gatefold sleeve is glossy and well-preserved with only light minor wear; the edges are clean and sharp, only minor ‘scuff’ on the right-hand bottom corner. I’m not sure if the inner sleeve is the original one, but it is exactly the same as the plain (EMI) vintage one that first housed the album.

There is a touch of colouring-in applied to the album title on the inner gatefold display (ah, the impetuosity of psychedelic youthfulness!) but the sleeve overall is very good and has been well looked after. PS: the light patch on the left top in the photo is just reflected light, not discolouration!

Vinyl = EX: Generally appears very clean, without signs of significant play and very little spindle marking to the label. Some ‘crackle’ can be heard on the quietest passages or inbetween tracks - but then I do play my vinyl on a £1,500 Roksan transcription deck! There are some minor visible surface scuffs but no clicks or audible scratches.

The LP will be carefully packed in an appropriate stiff cardboard casing with the cover and vinyl separated to avoid ‘knifing’.

Payment is by PayPal, (cleared) cheque, postal orders or cash on collection (I’m in north Birmingham B24). Please pay within 5 days of the auction end.

Collection from me in north Birmingham B24 (Jn. 6 of the M6) is OK, or I will arrange carriage.

If you require a particular level of courier of service, insurance or distance, costs may exceed the standard (UK Royal Mail) figure cited on the auction and an additional payment will be calculated for you to pay prior to dispatch.

Happy Bidding!
