The Riats are a Nederbeat group from The Hague that mainly play covers and instrumental songs. The line-up includes drummer Louis Debeij and guitarist Frank Doolaard who will become more famous with other music styles. In 1966 they play the tune of pop program Fanclub (Vara). Their most notable covers are Sunday Morning and Run Run Run from 1967 by the cult group Velvet Underground (from the album with the banana by Andy Warhol). The American band is also particularly obscure in their own country and will only receive recognition later. The Riats are the first European band to release covers from them and probably even the very first band ever.
