Description
Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my Beatles, Beatles – related and Rolling Stones records that are form my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, a very rare 1968 Dutch STEREO pressing of The Rolling Stones’ debut album on the BLUE UNBOXED Decca label, cat. no. DQY 825 384. This pressing with completely different, psychedelic cover design, also known as “The Butterfly Cover” is the first ever Stereo release (U.K. pressings were Mono only, also all 1970’s pressings) and is extremely hard to find.
The record is in VG minus condition, there are lots of hairlines and scuffs. I have test played this record (because it looks very beat up) and plays very well through with only very light crackling between the songs. For a play grade, I would give it a VG to VG+. Considering this, the damage looks worse than it actually is. The labels are in VG minus condition, there are many spindle marks, a little wear around the spindle holes on both sides, previous owner has written his name on side 1 (rather large) and there is a rubber stamp mark on side 2.
The cover is in VG condition, there some wear and is a tiny tear on the opening edge on the front, there is some rubbing a couple creases and a large roman “I” written on the back. Besides the mentioned damage this cover looks used, but still presentable.
This is a very rare Dutch STEREO copy of the Rolling Stones’ debut album with the “Butterfly” cover. For years, it was one of the most wanted Dutch Rolling Stones albums. This record with the unique Butterfly cover was only available in 1968 for a couple of months, before Decca Netherlands decided to change the cover again (the common second issue has two more recent photographs on the front, these photo’s were later used for the “No Stone Unturned” album) and the Butterfly cover was deleted forever, making this an extremely rare release. Although not in a dream Mint condition, this record (and especially the cover) is extremely rare. This is your chance to complete your Rolling Stones collection. Happy Bidding!
