Description
Aftermath, released in April 1966 by Decca Records, is the fourth British studio album by The Rolling Stones. The album is considered an artistic breakthrough for the band, being the first full-length release to consist entirely of Mick Jagger/Keith Richard compositions. Brian Jones played a variety of instruments not usually associated with rock music—including sitar on "Paint It Black", the Appalachian dulcimer on "Lady Jane" and "I Am Waiting", the marimbas (African xylophone) on "Under My Thumb" and "Out of Time", harmonica on "High and Dry" and "Goin' Home", a Japanese koto on "Take It Or Leave It", as well as guitar and keyboards.
I bought this album new in 1966 and it was one of my favourite Rolling Stones albums. As you can see from the photographs, it is in good condition and I am selling it only because I am downsizing.
The record has the matrix numbers XARL-7210-3A and XARL-7209-6B. It is not warped. It has fingerprints dust and fluff, but there are no scratches or scuffs. It needs a clean, but other than that it looks fine. I have not played it for over 40 years so cannot confirm it plays with no jumps, sticks or skips, but when I did play it I never had a problem with it and I believe that it would play well. The labels have no rip; there is some spindle marks on side 2, but other than that they are fine (see photographs 5 and 6).
The sleeve is the original. It is almost 50 years old, but there are no tears and, as you can see from photograph 4, it is fine.
The cover contains no rips, tears or writing. It is slightly rubbed round the corners, but again, it is almost 50 year old. The wording on the spine "AFTERMATH", "THE ROLLING STONES" and "DECCA LK 4786" is clearly legible. however, the spine does contain a couple of age spots.
