Description

Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my 60’s beat and psych and some 70’s progressive records that are from my own personal collection, so here we go!

On offer, a very rare first U.K. MONO pressing of The Rolling Stones – Beggars Banquet on the RED UNBOXED Decca label, cat. no. LK 4955.

The record is in VG to VG+ condition, there are a couple non-sounding hairlines and a couple small sounding marks scratches here and there. The labels are in VG+ condition, there only some spindle marks and some very slight wear along the spindle hole on both sides.

The cover is in VG condition, the previous owners name is written in small biro on the front and on the inside of the gatefold and the spine has a couple bald spots. Further there is a stroke of sello tape on the left hand side on the inside of the gatefold and there is some very slight ring wear coming through on both sides of the cover. Besides all mentioned minor defects, this cover is a very decent condition.

The record comes with an original “Important, The Equipment and The Record” inner sleeve, which is in VG condition. It has some age browning and there is a seam split.

This is a very rare FIRST U.K. MONO copy of the Rolling Stones’ Beggars Banquet album. Although the record and cover are not in mint condition, later 1960’s mono copies are very hard to find. As mono was a dying format, Decca decided to make mono copies on a “special order” basis only. As this record was released in December 1968, this mono mix was used just only for a year and three months at the maximum, and then never to be repressed again. This is a real opportunity for all Rolling Stones collectors to own a very first MONO pressing of this legendary album. Happy Bidding!
