I recently acquired a stunning Rolling Stones collection and I will listing them over the next 2/3 months.  The vinyls are in superb condition as are the covers.

The Rolling Stones : Exile On Main St A1 / B1 / C2 / D2 1st Press
This is probably the most stunning example of this classic album that I have ever listened to.  The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is sensational and the only 'intrusion' are a handful of very light ticks at the end of one fade out.  It basically plays 'as new' and it is clear the vinyls have hardly been played.  They are visually stunning and only two of the labels have a couple of tiny spindle traces.  The previous owner was obviously a collector - he purchased the records to add to his collection rather than to play them and he certainly looked after them well!  This is an another stunning example and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing.  Sadly there are no postcards present with this edition so perhaps they were not included with it originally.  It would be strange if this collector had mislaid them.
The iconic cover is without the most impressive I have ever seen.  It is unbelievably clean with barely any wear and the picture inserts and inner sleeves are also in superb condition.

This particular edition has a grey TM on the back cover.

Visual description

The vinyls are in beautiful condition and still have an immaculate 'as new' jet-black glossy sheen with no scratches.  There is just one very small faint blemish on S3 but I cannot find any hairlines at all!  Not only have the records hardly been played but they have hardly been moved either!  The run out grooves are so clean and the yellow labels are perfect.  Only a couple of them have a couple of tiny spindle traces.

Play grading

Having listened to S1 in its entirety I can safely say all tracks play with a clarity, power and definition that could not be enhanced in any way.  Starting with 'Rocks Off' the sonic quality is 'as new' and that applies to the rest of the side.  I cannot emphasise enough just how strong and clear the audio is and like I say the power is just stunning.  There is perhaps just a little inner groove distortion on the final track 'Tumbling Dice' but that of course is common.  I would grade that track as Mint- but the other four tracks are Mint without doubt.  As per the other other Stones' albums I am selling it is clear they have hardly been played which is why they have retained their original sound.

S2 plays to the same high end standard with no interference.  This time the final track 'Loving Cup' plays perfectly and every track grades as Mint the playback is so clean and precise.

----------------------------------------------------------

You will not be surprised to hear that S3 plays to the same level with no intrusion.  As my regulars know I play every track in full and that is how I am able to provide a 'complete' grade.  Starting with 'Happy' and ending with 'Let It Loose' with everything in between (!) the crystal clear audio is audio is phenomenal.  'I Just Wanna See His Face' is of course a relatively quiet track and yet the clarity is stunning, there are only a handful of light static ticks at the end of the fade out so I will grade as Mint- but the others are Mint in every way.  The classic final track plays beautifully by the way.

S4 maintains this standard and plays with sublime precision throughout with no intrusion.  The opening two tracks 'All Down The Line' and 'Stop Breaking Down' play with genuine power and depth and 'Shine A Light' is stunning!  A number of quiet sections and yet the clarity is faultless.  The final track 'Soul Survivor' plays with great power and definition again with only the bare minimum of inner groove distortion.  Let's say Mint- but the others are Mint all the way.

In summary this first pressing is absolutely STUNNING!  Yes the vinyls are pristine and wow do they deliver on every sonic level!  The clarity and depth of the audio is comparable to a record pressed only yesterday not 51 years ago.  The only background are a small number of statics at the end of one fade out and a modicum of light inner groove distortion on a couple of end tracks but this is vinyl and you expect that of course.  In my opinion this is a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic - you could not wish to find a more 'definitive' version.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves

The cover as stated is in superb condition with no obvious wear and is the 'cleanest' I have ever seen.  The four 'spines' remain strong and the corners have barely any wear, in fact only the top left corner has a minimal amount of wear and I do mean very very minimal!  The edges are incredibly clean also and I was going to say the front cover is perfect but I have just noticed a faint score line in the centre.  You can only see it when you hold the cover at an angle.  The back cover just has a couple of score lines and some tiny indents caused by resting against a Sticky Fingers zip as is common.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and for once the inner spine is undamaged.  A stunning example of this iconic cover.

The two picture inners are in perfect condition without any wear and the plain white die-cut inners have also been preserved so well with no obvious wear just some light creasing.
