FACTORY SAMPLE
The album being offered for sale is an Original Factory Sample 1967 UK Flowers Mono Pressing. (Decca UK UNBOXED Label). Today this is one of the rarest, collectable Rolling Stones albums to find as only a very small mono pressing was made by Decca for export purposes.
In critically grading the album, which is now 45 years old , I can report that BOTH SIDES are very good ++. Under strong sunlight there are some ultra fine hairlines to be seen but none that would cause any major problem in audio playback. To SUPPORT this observation, I have just played it through on both sides. My findings are that on a couple of the more quieter tracks you can hear some background noise at the start of those tracks but once the vocals and music comes in, the background noise is lost within the track and cannot be heard. I could also hear static background noise as the stylus runs over the dead wax between each track. I would suggest that a good clean would do this rare album the world of good as it would help remove the dust within the fine grooves, which is the main reason for background noise. The vast majority of the tracks do however play without noticable background noise and are full of depth and clarity, revealing to you the band at its very best. On a really positive note, I found that both sides play through smoothly without any skips or jumps and both sides give a really raw mono sound, which you will truly enjoy. In looking at the labels, I can advise these are both clean and without any problems. The cover is graded as very good, albeit showing natural age wear and a very small nick on the spine and small record shop sales sticker on the reverse. Overall, although not mint, this remains a solid and very rare album that all Stones collectors or general music collectors must have in their collection.
