The Rolling Stones Big Hits [High Tide and Green Grass] 1966 original vinyl album on the unboxed Decca turquoise label, catalogue number TXL 101 (mono)
The numbers and letters printed on the vinyl are:- Side 1: XARL-7503-1A 1 CC KT Side 2: XARL-7504-3A 2 KG KT SMD BH
This is a very heavy vinyl and it is not warped. When viewed under a bright light I can see quite a lot of light surface scratches scattered across both sides - most are caused by bag movement, but there also some small scuffs and superficial stylus scratches. I cannot feel any of them with light fingertip touch. The record plays very clearly with some crackle and occasional light ticks which is only really noticeable if you are very close to the speakers - in 'open play' it is not very distracting and there is no significant deterioration of the sound quality. There are no sticks, no skips, no jumps.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. the labels have quite a lot of light spindle lines, but no writing, no damage.
The cover is a gatefold type with a full size photo booklet stapled in to the centre which is all complete and intact. The gatefold is coated with a clear laminate on the front, spine and back. The front surface has a crease in the top right corner and a slightly larger one in the bottom right corner as well as some slight surface rub wear. The back surface is in excellent condition, just a few small creases next to the spine. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE EARLIEST ORIGINAL MONO DEDICATED GATEFOLD AND THESE DID NOT HAVE THE PEEPHOLE IN THE BACK - THEY PRE-DATED THE PEEPHOLE DESIGN WHICH WAS USED FOR LATER PRESSINGS AND REISSUES.
The spine is in excellent shape, almost as new, fully and clearly readable.
The inner sleeve is the earliest Decca original - slightly lilac print, 'Made In England' 'Foreign Patents Pending' as used with the earliest Decca non peephole covers. It is still poly-lined, no seam splits, just one tear from the centre of the window on the back which has been neatly repaired.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say that the gatefold is at least 'very good+' maybe near 'excellent', the vinyl is visually 'very good+' and the audio is 'very good+'
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a strong record mailing box with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
