THE ROLLING STONES IN EXOTIC HONOLULU Bootleg 1978 K&S 049
This is an auction of collectible vinyl long-playing records. This particular auction includes a single copy of THE ROLLING STONES IN EXOTIC HONOLULU a live recording by THE ROLLING STONES made on January 22nd, 1973 at the International Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. This album was originally released on the “Pig’s Eye” Label in 1974; this extremely limited edition on multi-colored vinyl was pressed from the original Pig’s Eye “plates” in 1978 by K & S Records. Several sources claim that there were less than 100 copies made of this version, and copies have sold for more than $400 in the past decade. The paper cover insert features the original art by William Stout, created for the Pig’s Eye release.
Both the vinyl and the cardboard outer sleeve appear to be in Very Good condition; the record is enclosed in a generic paper sleeve, which has some wrinkles.

I am selling this record on behalf of my friend John D. Berry, who writes: “I bought this collection in the late 1900s from John Ellison, a friend who was working (as I was) as a technical editor at Microsoft. John and his partner Lesley Link were starting a small publishing house, Broken Moon Press, and wanted to raise money to fund this endeavor. John had been a Rolling Stones fan and a devoted record collector, but he decided to sell his collection as part of the publishing effort. I was not especially a Stones fan, but I was willing to buy the collection to help the cause, figuring that I could always re-sell it later, probably for more than I paid.
“John was a very serious collector. Most of these vinyl disks have never been played, and many of them are extremely rare. They all date from no later than the mid-1980s; many of them are from the 1970s or 1960s. Quite a few are bootlegs, unauthorized but tolerated iterations of particular recording sessions or performances. For many years, these bootlegs could not be sold, even when they were approved by the artists; these days, however, that worry seems to be a dead letter, and lots of bootlegs show up on eBay and other selling sites.”
Payment through Paypal preferred. Buyer pays actual postage from Seattle, WA. I’ve done my best to anticipate the weight of safe packing materials for these extremely rare vinyl recordings, but if you are overcharged at any point, I will refund your overpayment. I welcome bids from buyers outside the U.S., and I am especially happy to combine several items to save on international or domestic postage.
