Description

The Rolling Stones - The Rollings Stones (Original Master Recordings - Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab/Decca/Abkco, 1984

The limited edition MFSL audiophile Rolling Stones box set. Pressed in Japan on "Super Vinyl". Each LP housed in a rice-paper inner sleeve and doubled cardboard. Issued with a MFSL Geo-Disc cartridge alignment system and a booklet containing full-color reproductions of the original sleeves, as well as an interview with Andrew Loog Oldham et al. A limited edition, this being #1818 so issued. A VG/VG set. A bright and solid box with light chipping at the corners and light external soiling. Light wear and soiling to the felt base. Clean internally with the dividers undamaged. Clasp in bright working order. Ripple to the front cover of the booklet, perhaps from the 3D applique, perhaps from someother source; light handling, light touches of soiling to the booklet. The Geo-Disc sleeve is lightly worn, otherwise quite nice. The rice-paper sleeves are fine. The cardboard sleeves are lightly soiled with wear at the corners and edges, but no major splitting. The last sleeve ("Hot Rocks") has suffered water damage at its open edge and is darkened and rippled (image provided). The labels are very clean with light marks from spindle contact. The sides are clean and glossy with light marks here and there (detailed below). VG/VG. A detailed account of the aural and visual inspection as it pertains to the look and sound of the LPs follows. Please keep in mind that the quality was found to be generally quite high and, where nothing to the contrary is indicated, the sound was found to be closer to Ex or even NM.
