Description

WOW!!! For sale is an incredibly rare U.K. 1st pressing of The Rolling Stones landmark second album entitled simply “No. 2”. These are rare enough as it is, but this is the much rarer and more sought after “pasteover” sleeve!! These are easily spotted by the rear paper being pasted over the laminate on back. Guaranteed 100%. Just have a look at the pics and you can see for yourself.

If you’re not familiar with these let me explain why they are so collectible and desirable:


This is in a sense The Rolling Stones’ version of The Beatles’ “Butcher Cover”. When this album was first issued, there was some controversy over the “Blind Man” text which basically told people to beat up and rob a blind man to pay for the record. This did not go over well and DECCA was forced to change it.

However, rather than scrap the covers still in stock they simply pasted over them with a new rear panel and then ordered new sleeves. Unlike the Butcher cover, most people do not remove this slick as it is what adds the value and rarity. These are very difficult to find and one recently sold in the U.K. by a top seller for over £700 (nearly $1,000 US!!) This is an amazing rarity and is in wonderful condition. (I grade conservatively and highlight any and all flaws so you know exactly what you’re getting)


Sleeve: VG+ This is a very nice sleeve with some laminate lifting on the upper left. Laminate creases on right side. See pics. Rear mostly clean no writing save for one tiny light pencil line which I haven’t attempted to erase but most certainly will come off. I will do this when I get home and update the listing. There is some brown age spotting on the rear. Mostly good corners with slight wear and a “bump” No splits or serious damage. There is light wear, slight waviness along opening edge...a very nice example of this very rare sleeve.

Disc: VG+ to EX

Still retains a beautiful sheen with only a few very light superficial marks under bright light. In normal lighting it looks fantastic. Very nice and looked after disc and is sure to play amazingly. Play test may be requested if you’d like.

Labels: EX++

Unboxed Decca labels are in EX++ condition - absolutely no writing or marks and only light signs of spindle trails and no obvious signs of wear. Absolutely beautiful!

Inner sleeve: VG+ no splits or tears and only some brown age spots.
