The Rolling Stones : NO.2
This very first 1A/1A mono pressing on the red unboxed Decca grooved label plays with excellent audio overall and little interference. This has the 'first press' flipback cover with of course the 'Blind Man' credit on the cover.

Visual grading
For a genuine first press the vinyl is very clean indeed. There are a number of very fine hairlines as you would expect but there are no scratches or marks and is cleaner than the vast majority I have seen. There is one hairline on S1 that is slightly more obvious but this doesn't affect the audio. The labels and run out grooves are very clean also.
Play grading
'Everybody Needs Somebody To Love' plays very clearly with only a little static in the background and one soft click. There is a little more crackle on 'Down Home Girl' but it isn't particularly loud and the track still plays well with no clicks or pops. 'You Can't Catch Me' has great clarity with no 'background' and is a superb listen. In fact it practically grades as Near Mint such is the stunning audio. The fade out is nigh on perfect also. The remaining tracks on S1 play with excellent clarity and with only light intermittent static here and there, nothing intrusive. No loud crackle and no clicks or pops at all. For once, the final track 'Grown Up Wrong' plays with a wonderful deep rich sound and no 'background, not even on the fade out.
'Down The Road Apiece' starts S2 with only light static on the intro and then plays incredibly well, just a couple of crackle sounds that is all. 'Under The Boardwalk' plays extremely well and with a dynamic rich sound again but every now and then you can hear the odd background crackle sound. I mention this to be complete in my grading, it is not intrusive and there are no clicks or pops. 'I Can't Be Satisfied' again plays with super clear audio and only a couple of light clicks. 'Pain In My Heart' does play with more crackle and about 6 clicks also. 'Off The Hook' and 'Suzie-Q' end the album with highly impressive audio, just a little distortion on the latter.
The Cover
The laminated flipback 'Clarifoil' cover by 'James Upton' is in excellent shape overall and features the infamous 'blind man' text. The edges and thin pinched spine are in great order with only a few small rubs on the top edge. There is some light creasing on the laminate mainly on the right side and a few small creases next to the spine but it is still visually in excellent condition. The opening edge is very clean with very little handling wear. The back cover has some mild marking/staining with some visible on the flipbacks but I have seen many first press covers not as good as this one! There are also eight dots written in pen next to the song titles.
Inner sleeve
The die-cut plain white inner sleeve has no splits or tears just some minor creasing and age related fading.
The labels
The grooved unboxed labels are in excellent condition and have all the correct credits denoting a very first press - 'Made In England' only on the top - no production and recording info below 'The Rolling Stones' - Publishers divided on both sides of the label - 'K/T' not 'K/T S' printed above the cat no. They are very clean with no marking/writing just some spindle wear. The KT tax code is stamped on both run out grooves.
